Off The Old Block

The Boston Herald’s Peter Gelzinis has an interesting column on Edward Flynn, the son of former Boston Mayor Raymond Flynn, who’s running for a seat on the Boston City Council. It seems that Ed is trying to trade on his father’s name in this race, which is a recipe for disaster: Not only does the city of Boston have many newcomers who have no recollection of the Flynn era, but those who do remember the elder Flynn might be turned off by the ex-Mayor’s recent battles with political schizophrenia, and may refrain from voting for the son as a result.
