Down Your Throat
May 31, 2005
So former FBI bigwig W. Mark Felt has been exposed as Deep Throat, the operative who helped to bring down Richard Nixon’s presidency in the 1970s. Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity are already claiming that the media will turn Felt into a left-wing folk hero because he essentially deposed a Republican president; I really can’t see that happening, because after all, Felt was an aide-de-camp to the notorious J. Edgar Hoover. (However, I’m sure that a lot of anti-Bush people are fantasizing this week about a 21st-century Deep Throat, someone who could present hardcore proof that Bush invaded Iraq knowing that there were no actual weapons of mass destruction…)

Lynch Mobbed
May 29, 2005
The Globe says that Massachusetts Congressman Stephen Lynch (D-South Boston) could be mulling a run for governor next year. The ironic thing is, he could win a general election–but there’s no way he could win a Democratic primary. Seriously, does anyone think that progessive voters in this state will get behind a pro-life, pro-Iraq war Irish-Catholic from Southie? (Now, if Mitt Romney decides not to run again and Lynch switches parties and becomes a Republican, then the world is his like Tony Montana…)
